AASU History Professor Given Lifetime Achievement Award by Mount Vernon College

Savannah, GA—December 18, 2004—Armstrong Atlantic State University's (AASU) Nancy White, history, received the "Elizabeth J. Somers Award for Leadership in Women’s Education" for her 20 years of service and leadership in working with the women of Mount Vernon College. The award was presented by the Alumnae Association of Mount Vernon College (a division of the larger Alumni Association of the George Washington University) and George Washington University’s Elizabeth J. Somers Leadership Center.

The Mount Vernon Alumnae Association's mission is to provide a voice to preserve Mount Vernon's past and promote its future. The Elizabeth J. Somers Women's Leadership Center sponsors programs that enhance the education, professional development, and leadership opportunities for women.

White earned her bachelor of arts in history from Mount Holyoke College and her M.A. and Ph.D. in history from American University.
