AASU Student Earns $2000 Fellowship Award

Savannah, GA—December 7, 2004—Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU) has awarded graduate student David Purvis the Roger K. Warlick Fellowship in recognition of his strong academic record and student research. The $2,000 award will aid Purvis in the upcoming months while he completes his thesis on Medieval History. After graduating in May with a master’s in history, Purvis plans to either pursue a doctorate in history or teach overseas.

Purvis, who enjoys participating in Civil War reenactments by the Coastal Heritage Society, credits his achieving this award to his love of history and literature, as well as his professors at AASU. "Being at Armstrong has been great. I love its size," said Purvis. "Many of my professors are also my friends."

The Roger K. Warlick Fellowship, named for former Department of History head is given to promising graduate students who have completed their classwork and have only their final project or thesis left to complete their degree.
