ACS Affiliates Hosted Memorial Health Nutritionist

Savannah, GA—October 15, 2004—The Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society (SAACS) recently held a community luncheon celebrating National Chemistry Week (NCW). Helen Hussey, an outpatient dietitian at Memorial Health University Medical Center, presented the "7 Guidelines for Healthier Eating" in coordination with NCW's theme for 2004, "Health and Wellness!"

NCW is an outreach program of the American Chemical Society developed to enhance the public's awareness of the contributions of chemistry to our everyday lives and the nation's economy. ACS members, industry, educators, student affiliates and chemistry enthusiasts celebrate it nationwide.

SAACS is an American Chemical Society and AASU Chemistry and Physics Department affiliated student organization. Armstrong Atlantic's SAACS has received numerous awards from the American Chemical Society including a commendable award for 2003-2004 school year.

Hussey is responsible for working with patients to assess their nutritional needs, develop appropriate care plans, and provide nutrition education. She works closely with patients in pediatric cardiology, various outreach programs, and behavioral medicine. Hussey offers food and nutrition classes for Feel Better Challenge participants.
