Emmeluth Named Honorary Member of NABT

15, 2003Donald Emmeluth, assistant professor of biology at Armstrong
Atlantic State University, received the 2003 Honorary Membership Award
from the National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT). The Honorary
Membership is the highest honor bestowed on members of the teaching
profession who have achieved distinction in teaching, research or service
in the biological sciences.
Emmeluth served as president of the NABT and the Empire State Association
of Two-Year Biologists. He also served on the NABT board and several
committees. He received the NABT Two-Year College Biology Teaching Award
and the Chancellors Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Emmeluth co-authored a teaching and learning grant that funded the development
of "A Virtual Walkabout for General Biology Students," an
on-line introductory biology course. He has published eleven papers
and is co-author of a high school textbook.
The NABT is "the leader in life science education" with more
than 9,000 members. The NABT empowers educators to provide the best
possible biology and life science education for all students.
