AASU
Students Study Abroad in Denmark
Savannah, GA-Seven AASU students Steve Mosca, Charles Briscoe,
Amanda Love, Steve Giles, Carol Lawson, Jay Stuart and Katherine Lancaster
traveled to Denmark this summer as part of the university's study abroad
program. The students were enrolled in Daniel Skidmore-Hess (political
science) and Richard McGrath's (economics) course "Problems of
European Integration." The course explores the economic and political
issues surrounding the European Union.
Skidmore-Hess and McGrath were joined on the trip by faculty Janet Stone
(history), Alberto Fernandez (criminal justice) and Linda Hansen (secretary
of the criminal justice, social and political science department). The
group visited the University of Southern Denmark, where they participated
in a political science seminar in Odense and an economics seminar in
Sonderborg. In Sonderborg the group also visited the historical battleground
of Dybbol Mill.
While in Denmark, the group visited many cities, including the capital
Copenhagen, where they heard presentations at the Danish Industry, Foreign
Ministry and Parliament. They also visited the National Museum of Denmark,
the Carlsber (an art and antiquities museum) and the museum of Danish
Resistance. During their free time several students traveled to Roskildes
Viking Ship Museum and neighboring Sweden and Germany.
