AASU to Host a Campus Read of Stories
by Flannery O’Connor

Savannah, GA–March 23, 2004–The Savannah community will have the opportunity to read A Good Man Is Hard to Find and Other Stories by native Savannah author Flannery O’Connor. Armstrong Atlantic State University will host a Campus Read of these stories and several other events during the week of April 5 through 9. The events are free and open to the public.

A Special Collections Exhibit will be on display from April 5 through 9 in AASU’s Lane Library from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit will feature rare first edition books and artifacts including some of O’Connor’s letters and other original documents.

Faculty from various disciplines will lead an Across the Curriculum Discussion about how to approach O’Connor’s works from alternative viewpoints. The discussion will be held on at noon on April 5 in room 156 of AASU’s University Hall.

A film, "Displaced Person," will be shown at 7 p.m on April 6 in room 156 of AASU’s University Hall. Enjoy light refreshments and engaging conversation about the short 1976 film version of O’Connor’s life.

A student led Community Book Club Discussion of O’Connor’s stories will be held on April 7 in room 156 of AASU’s University Hall. It will begin at Noon.

Beverly Fatheree will perform a one-women show, "Flannery O’Connor: In Her Own Words," on April 8 in room 156 of AASU’s University Hall. It will begin at 7 p.m. and will be followed by a reception.

Field trips from AASU’s Administrative Building to Flannery O’Connor’s childhood home in historic downtown Savannah, where she lived from 1925 to 1938, will be offered on April 9 at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2 p.m.
