to Host a Campus Read of Stories

23, 2004The Savannah community will have the opportunity to read
A Good Man Is Hard to Find and Other Stories by native Savannah
author Flannery OConnor. Armstrong Atlantic State University will
host a Campus Read of these stories and several other events during
the week of April 5 through 9. The events are free and open to the public.
A Special Collections Exhibit will be on display from April 5 through
9 in AASUs Lane Library from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit will
feature rare first edition books and artifacts including some of OConnors
letters and other original documents.
Faculty from various disciplines will lead an Across the Curriculum
Discussion about how to approach OConnors works from alternative
viewpoints. The discussion will be held on at noon on April 5 in room
156 of AASUs University Hall.
A film, "Displaced Person," will be shown at 7 p.m on April
6 in room 156 of AASUs University Hall. Enjoy light refreshments
and engaging conversation about the short 1976 film version of OConnors
life.
A student led Community Book Club Discussion of OConnors
stories will be held on April 7 in room 156 of AASUs University
Hall. It will begin at Noon.
Beverly Fatheree will perform a one-women show, "Flannery OConnor:
In Her Own Words," on April 8 in room 156 of AASUs University
Hall. It will begin at 7 p.m. and will be followed by a reception.
Field trips from AASUs Administrative Building to Flannery OConnors
childhood home in historic downtown Savannah, where she lived from 1925
to 1938, will be offered on April 9 at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2 p.m.
