AASU Professors Publish Mathematics Textbook

SAVANNAH, GA—January 30, 2004—Armstrong Atlantic State University professors Jim Brawner and Ed Wheeler had their textbook, Discrete Mathematics for Teachers, published by the Houghton Mifflin Company.

Brawner is the interim department head for the Mathematics Department. He received his B.A. in English and Mathematical Sciences in 1985 from Williams College, and his Ph. D. in mathematics in 1992 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has had several of his papers published in various professional journals, and teaches undergraduate as well as graduate mathematical courses.

Wheeler is the Dean of The College of Arts and Sciences at AASU. He received his B.A. from Samford University in 1969, and his Ph.D. from the University of Virginia in 1973. He has received several honors and has published several of his works, including other mathematical textbooks.
