AASU to Host Poet Ellen Bryant Voigt April 14

Savannah, GA—In an ongoing effort to expose students to outstanding writers and scholars, Armstrong Atlantic State University will present poet Ellen Bryant Voigt on April 14. Voigt will give a reading from her works as part of the university's Visiting Writer Series. The event will begin at 12:10 P.M. in room 1405 of AASU's Science Center.

Voigt has published six books of poetry: Claiming Kin (1976); The Forces of Plenty (1983); The Lotus Flowers (1987); Two Trees (1992); Kyrie (1995); and most recently, Shadow of Heaven (2002), nominated for the Pulitzer Prize. Her collection of essays on the art of poetry, The Flexible Lyric, appeared in 1999.

The series is sponsored by the AASU Campus Union Board, the Department of Languages, Literature, and Philosophy, and Southern Poetry Review.
