7th Science in Savannah Symposium
InfraGard/AASU to Host Symposium
on Securing E-Commerce

Savannah, GA—April 19, 2005—The job of building an e-commerce web site never stops, as the web site and the technology itself constantly evolve. As e-commerce web sites are positioned on the net, and, as the technology used by these sites becomes obsolete, security risks also change. Currently, organizations are finding that they need to keep pace with the increasing risks of conducting business on the Internet.

In an effort to address these and other related topics, InfraGard Coastal Empire and Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU) will host the 7th Science in Savannah Symposium, "Securing E-Commerce: Applications, Technology and Legal Issues," on May 13. The symposium will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in AASU's University Hall. Two concurrent sessions will be offered with networking opportunities throughout the day.

A wide range of topics related to the security of e-commerce web sites will be covered. They will include: information sharing; content delivery and security; e-commerce and convergent media; Internet protocols; mobile commerce security, intrusion and detection; "Top 10 Landmines" in setting up an e-commerce site; security on open wireless network systems; and protocol for involving law enforcement.

LTC Clifton H. Poole, professor of Systems Management, National Defense University, will give the keynote address on wireless security. Other remarks will be made by Lisa Godbey Wood, U.S. Attorney, Southern District of Georgia; Demery Bishop, CrimeStoppers and interim president of InfraGard Coastal Empire; and Bill Kirkconnell of the F.B.I.

The fee for registration is $75 for members of InfraGard, $95 for non-members. The fee is waived for law enforcement agents.
