U.S. flag from Afghanistan presented to AASU

Savannah — February 28, 2005 —On July 4, 2004, Lt. Col. Robin Milonas, a veteran of the Operation Desert Storm, had a U.S. Flag flown over Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan in honor of Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU). Donna C. Brooks, associate professor and coordinator of speech-language pathology, presented the framed flag on February 11 to Thomas Z. Jones, president of AASU. Brooks is the sister of Melonas.

Melonas, who is now stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA was a member of Task Force Victory and involved in recruiting Afghan women into the police force.
The flag will be displayed in the veterans affairs office in Victor Hall on the AASU campus.
