AASU Honors Program Host Annual Conference

Savannah, GA—March 3, 2004— About 140 talented and motivated students from around the state came to Armstrong Atlantic State University for the annual Georgia Collegiate Honors Council meeting. Students had the opportunity to visit AASU and its Honors Program. They also received an introduction to the research and academic opportunities available at the Skidaway Institute of Oceanography.

The conference featured 47 paper presentations by honor students and faculty advisors from 14 Georgia colleges and universities. Some of the topics included: the Iraq war, African American art, and a study of the principles of thermodynamics applied to an air potato cannon. Panelists presented suggestions for improving honors program pedagogy, community outreach, and housing facilities.
