Price Named Interim Executive Director of Graduate Studies

Savannah, GA—April 2, 2004—Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU) announces that Michael Price has been named interim executive director of graduate studies. In his new role, Price will manage the graduate assistantship program, review research applications and chair the Institutional Review Board, and coordinate the Graduate Council and all graduate committees. Additionally, he will serve as editor of the graduate and undergraduate catalogs.

Price has been a member of the graduate faculty for over a decade. During this period, he has had the responsibility of administrating the M.A. in History and coordinating the M.Ed. in Social Science Education for the College of Education. Additionally, he has served on both the Graduate Faculty Status and the Graduate Curriculum committees. These experiences have provided him with a firm and clear understanding of the vital relationship between the university's undergraduate and graduate curriculum and programs.

In addition to his new role, Price will continue to serve as head of the Department of History, one of the largest academic units on campus. He has served as department head of history since 2000.

Price is the author of Stories with a Moral: Literature and Society in Nineteenth-Century Georgia (The University of Georgia Press) and currently serves as president-elect of the Georgia Association of Historians. Price has an M.A. in History and an EdD in Social Science Education from the University of Georgia.
