AASU to Host Reunion for Golden Graduates: Classes of 1937-1952

Savannah, GA– The Alumni Association of Armstrong Atlantic State University will host a reunion weekend September 20-22 for alumni who completed college fifty years ago or more and their invited guests. Dubbed the "Golden Graduates," this group of alumni represents the classes of 1937 through 1952.

Members of the class of 1937—the first to graduate from Armstrong Junior College—are expected to participate and will be honored on their class' sixty-fifth anniversary. A 1937 graduate, Mary Sheehan Oetgen, will be traveling from New York to attend the reunion. An additional highlight will be the attendance of several families whose members represent three generations of Armstrong alumni.

On the evening of September 20, a reception will be held at the Georgia Historical Society from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. On September 21 a tour will be given of the downtown Savannah buildings that originally belonged to Armstrong Junior College. The tour will begin at 9:30 A.M. and will be followed by a noon luncheon at the Westin Savannah Harbor Resort.

That evening a tour of the Armstrong Atlantic State University campus will be followed by a formal dinner for the graduates and their guests from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. in University Hall. A farewell brunch will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. on September 22 at the DeSoto Hilton.

The cost for attending the weekend reunion is $75 per person. Shuttle service will be provided for all events.
