Myers Named Director of Career Services at AASU

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Barbara Soloman Myers has been named director of career services, a division of the Office of Student Affairs, at Armstrong Atlantic State University. In her new position, Myers will administer career search and enhancement activities for students and alumni and also will oversee cooperative education programs.

"Myers' experience working with young people and her knowledge of the community will be invaluable," said Joseph Buck, vice president of student affairs, "particularly as she works to obtain more internships and cooperative education opportunities for students."

Myers has served at the university as coordinator of the Post-Secondary Readiness Enrichment Program and as director of the Georgia Health Careers Opportunity Program. A former director of Turning Point, a branch of Parent and Child Development Services of Savannah, Myers also has held the positions of admissions counselor at Paine College in Augusta and of minority recruitment officer at Georgia Southern University.

Myers holds a Master of Public Administration from Savannah State University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Paine College. She is chair of the Healthy Start Initiative Advisory Board and a member of Leadership Savannah, Savannah's Promise, and Pi Alpha Alpha Honor Society.
